The Beatles on iTunes weren’t the only big update of the day for Apple’s online music store. The App Store is getting a little something we’ve all been waiting for called Google Voice (GV).

The recent announcement of the beatles coming to the iTunes Store was not the only long awaited release from apple. There is a history behind the wait for the GV app to be approved by apple but it is not as long as the wait for the arrival of the beatles.

The GV app has been redesigned to include both the phone functionality with SMS texting in one application. This is a much more user friendly than switching back and forth between the iPhone’s built in application.

The GV Application has Google Voice inbox integrated. This holds your voicemail messages and will even transcribe voicemails into text. Your contact details are integrated with your voicemails so you will see your voicemail with your contact’s photo and their contact names next to the transcribed voicemail message.

The Google Voice app has four tabs situated at the bottom of the application: the Inbox, the Dialer, your Contacts and the Settings. The dialer combines calling and texting within one menu so it’s easy to dial out and send SMS. Alerts are made through Push notifications you when you receive a message.
